Business energy broker website design.
I build websites for UK business energy brokers around one job: getting an MPAN, an MPRN or a contract end date into your CRM before a competitor gets the same enquiry. Everything else — the design, the copy, the page structure — is built to serve that, not to win an award.
02
What it is
Not a template
A site built around your desk, not a generic template.
Most broker sites I audit are built from a generic small-business template with the word “energy” dropped into the hero. They have one enquiry form for every customer type, a stock photo of a lightbulb, and a contact page that asks for a message rather than a supply. That structure loses the SME microbusiness enquiry in the same inbox as the 2MW half-hourly enquiry, and your desk finds out which is which on the phone rather than before.
I build the site around your actual desks. If you split SME, half-hourly and multi-site, the site splits the same way, with a form per desk that asks the right qualifying question — kVA capacity, number of sites, current supplier, renewal date — before the enquiry lands. It's a website built like a sales floor is organised, not like a brochure is written.
03
How I do it
Process
Build order.
I start with your existing enquiry data, not a mood board. Which pages currently convert, which forms get abandoned, and which desk gets the most misrouted enquiries. From there I write the sitemap around your actual desks and supply types, wireframe the quote journey, and only then move to visual design. Copy is written in-house by me — I don't hand it to a generalist copywriter who has to be told what a COT is.
Technically, I build for a fast Largest Contentful Paint on a mid-range Android on a 4G connection, because a meaningful share of business owners are checking your site from a van or a shop floor, not a fibre-connected office desktop. Core Web Vitals also feed directly into how Google ranks the commercial pages you're trying to rank for under the SEO service, so a slow site undermines work you might be paying for elsewhere.

What's included
Scope
What's in a build.
Sitemap and desk segmentation, wireframes, visual design, all copy, the enquiry form(s) with CRM or email routing by desk, analytics and conversion tracking, basic on-page SEO structure (titles, headings, schema for the organisation and any FAQ content), and a staging review before launch. Hosting setup and a launch checklist covering redirects and Search Console are included; ongoing hosting cost itself is usually a small third-party bill in your own name, not mine, so you're never locked to me to keep your own site online.
05
Where it fails
Honest limits
What I won't do, and why.
I won't build a site around a slider full of stock photography and a single “get a quote” button with no qualifying fields, because that pattern produces high enquiry volume and low sales-floor conversion, and it's the single most common mistake I see in this sector. I also won't promise a design that looks “more premium” than a competitor as the reason to rebuild — if your current site converts and just needs faster hosting or better desk routing, I'll say that instead of selling a full rebuild you don't need.

FAQs
Common questions
Questions I get asked before a build.
How long does a broker website build take?
Six to ten weeks from signed scope to launch, depending on how many desk pages you need and whether copy and photography already exist or need writing from scratch.
Will you migrate my existing content and rankings?
Yes. Every existing URL gets mapped to its new equivalent with 301 redirects, and I check Search Console for coverage errors after launch. Expect a short dip during the switch, not months of lost visibility.
Do you build the site on WordPress?
I build on whatever gives the fastest honest load time and the lowest maintenance burden for your team, which for most brokers is a modern static-first stack rather than a plugin-heavy WordPress build.
Can you add a live rate comparison tool to the site?
That's a separate build with its own data and compliance requirements — see energy comparison website development. I'll tell you honestly whether your desk needs one before quoting it.
What does the enquiry form actually capture?
At minimum: business name, contact details, supply type, MPAN or MPRN core if to hand, and contract end date. That last field alone changes how your desk prioritises the call list.
Next step
Send me your current site and I'll tell you what it's costing you.
A free audit covers your enquiry form structure, load speed and desk routing. You'll also want business energy SEO and lead generation once the site itself is converting.
